Chapter 2.14: Something Else

Ochre was at home working on his rocket.  It needed an upgraded fuel storage and since his shipping jobs were on hold until after the Mulligan mess was handled he had time to work on it.

While he worked he thought about his brothers visit the other day and his advice to think about what family means to him.  Rachael was his mom and had been ever since she married his dad.  But she also had Hunter and Saffron whom she gave birth to.

He had always believed that one of them would inherit her responsibilities as head of the family since they were her children by birth and not just by marriage. Her asking him to take over had surprised him.

He cursed when the wrench slipped and he hit his hand.

"Sounds like you might be busy."

Ochre looked up when she spoke.

"You got my message then," he asked closing the hatch on the rocket.

"Yes," Sienna said looking around at all the parts he had scattered around the yard, "what did you want to talk about."

Ochre watched as she descended from the deck and walked towards him across the lawn.  He offered her a seat on one of the benches he had in the yard.

"You don't normally injure yourself when you're working on your ship.  Is something bothering you," she asked sitting down.

"Just something on my mind.  My mom and dad talked to me the other day about the O'Malley inheritance."

Sienna looked at him, "what about the inheritance?  Are they not giving any portion to you?"

"No, no.  They would never do that," Ochre said surprised she would think it possible, "they told me they plan to pass it on to my daughter with me acting as proxy until she comes of age."

"Really?  That's amazing, don't you have a younger sister?" Sienna asked.

"Yeah, but Mom said it would come to my children first."

"Hmm.  Your family is something else," Sienna murmured.

"They are that," Ochre agreed, "but that's not why I asked you over.  I told my folks about the lounge opening when we had dinner together and how I didn't think I would be able to make it.  They told me to go with you since I'll be able to spend time visiting with them anytime and this would be important to you."

     "They did," Sienna smiled.

Ochre nodded and took her hand in his, "Yes.  So if you still want me to come with you to the opening I'd be happy to go as your escort."

"That's great news, Ochre.  Of course I want you to go with me."

  1. Oh, am I supposed to not trust the others again? lol I didn't trust Lean but he turned out to be a good Sim. I trusted Grey but he turned out to be the bad guy. I think I'm not good at judging them

    1. LOL. maybe it depends on how much of a story I give the sim. Lean I gave an elaborate backstory I revealed a little slow, Grey I just kind of plopped him in with an endorsement from Lean.

You'll see what I have in mind with Sienna in a couple chatpters (thank goodness I've already written that chapter).
