Every morning Rachael woke in the small motel room either the big henchman or a smaller guy dressed in black would be there. Sometimes Grey was present, sometimes Eve was with him, but more often then not Rachael was alone with the hired muscle.
At least they were feeding her, she thought as she took another bite of the burger they gave her.
She sat on the bed and watched the two goons playing some card game or other. They didn't speak to her and for the most part she had given up talking to them. The first day she had told them all about her family and how worried the children would be about her.
Rachael sighed and shifted on the bed trying to get comfortable. Her back ached and no one would tell her anything about what was going on.
The door of the room slammed open and Eve and Grey both came in.
"I can't believe you almost got caught. What would you do if they followed you here," Eve screamed.
"Enough. They didn't follow me."
"Oh, of course they wouldn't follow the mighty Palette. Forgive me mighty warrior," she said sarcastically.
When Eve walked over to the table both of the guards stood up. She took one of the chairs and turned it around to face the room.
"You," she said pointing to the skinny henchman, "get to work finding another motel we can hide in."
The sim nodded his head before leaving the room.
"We don't need to leave. I'm perfectly capable of ditching a tail," Grey snapped.
"Apparently not capable enough."
Rachael turned when Cerulean spoke from near the door of the room.
"Lean," Rachael cried, happy to see him.
"See fool," Eve screeched over her, "you led him right to us."
Someone grabbed Rachael's arm and pulled her back when she moved towards the fighters.
Whoever held Rachael by the arm decided at that point to twist it up and behind her. When she couldn't move it anymore she cried out in pain.
Cerulean jerked around at the sound and Grey took advantage of his distraction to push him off.
The two fighters stood up though Grey was obviously still off balance from the exchange of blows.
"Enough Cerulean unless you want me to break her arm before breaking her neck."
Rachael couldn't help the whimper that escaped as real pain started to drive through her torso.
"Stop. She's done nothing to you Eve. It's me you want revenge on right, so let her go."
"I think not," she said, "sweetcheeks here is going to ensure you're on your best behavior. Now move away from the door and over by the beds."
Cerulean met Rachael's eyes as he did as he was told.
Eve used her leverage on Rachael's arm to force her to move toward's the door.
Rachael hissed in pain again as Cerulean moved out from between the beds and towards the middle of the room.
"Good. Now just stay there Ce-ru-le-an," Eve taunted, "or you know what I'll do to sweetcheeks." Rachael turned her head to the side as Eve brushed her fingers around her neck.
"Don't," Cerulean growled.
"Lean?" Rachael asked.
"Be brave Ray and trust me." Cerulean said focusing on her face.
"Always," Rachael said.
"Aww, so sweet," Eve mocked, "I just might have to gag from all the sweetness."
"Come on," she jerked on Rachael's arm and pulled her out the door.
Rachael tried to turn around for one more look at Cerulean before she was forced out the door. But as soon as the door closed she was jerked to a halt outside it.
"Stop right there Eve."
Rachael stared in shock at the speaker.
